Ciudad de Mexico: CAOL City Guide

It's safe to say that 2017 was the year of travel for me. From San Diego to Spain, airports quickly became my second home with trips almost every month! So when the opportunity to the end the year with a quick leg down to Mexico City presented itself, it only seemed natural go for it.

If you guys have followed my travels for some time (hi friends!) you know this wasn't my first  Mexican rodeo. However, I had only experienced the Riviera Maya region, never to the big capital - Mexico City. Happy to report it's just as mesmerizing as the rest of the country!

As always, I made a quick list of my must-visit spots for you guys. Keep on scrolling to check these out!
Mexico City has over 28 Million habitants - so you can imagine just how congested Zocalo and El Centro can get. Either way - totally recommend walking through here at least once. Just keep your purse/bag close to your heart, of course. ;)

Some cool places around here:
- La Azotea (best soup ever!)
- Palacio de Bellas Artes
- La Ciudadela - tons of great trinkets in this massive market

This pre-columbus gem is about an hour outside of the city but so worth the drive. The Mesoamerican pyramids will take your breath away - quite literally, the hike is no joke. We only dared tackle the Pyramid of the Sun, and right as we were reaching the top the sun came out. It was magical.
A quick lunch stop at El Farolito for authentic tacos is a must!

Admittedly, we only came here to visit the Frida Khalo museum; which, tragically, was sold out until the following week! Learn from my mistakes and purchase your tickets in advance, kids!

The drive to Coyoacan was around 25 minutes from the city center, so we decided to make the best of the situation and walk around a bit. We were pleasantly surprised to find a colorful little neighborhood with amazing churros and obscenely humongous street coconuts.

A must see! If you limit your visit to only one museum, go to this one! So much history and so many cool spots for photos, like the ones above. Also, while you're here go on ahead  and cross the street into Castillo de Chapultepec. Another great location for photos and a sick view of the city!

Polanco is where I started my stay in MEX. We stayed a couple of days in the J.W. Marriott here, which was fab, of course,  but a little to fancy for my taste. I'm more of a "hang with the locals, stay at an Airbnb" kind of gal.

The neighborhood can be compared to a fusion of the New York's UES and West Village, with countless  bars and restaurants to check out/
