#CAOLTRAVELS: 48 HOURS IN NASHVILLE WITH THE LOEWS VANDERBILT

Hi lovelies! LTNS!

Can you believe we're already half way through the summer?! I had to do a double take when I glanced at my calendar this morning to make sure my eyes weren't failing me. Time to pack in those beach days and summer getaways!

Speaking of which, two weeks ago I had the pleasure of checking yet another city off my USA list: Nashville! When I told my loved ones about this new adventure some welcomed the news with excitement and others with concussion (really? what in the world is there?)

Well today I'm happy to de-mystify Music City for those looking to visit soon, and entice those of you who haven't given this southern gem much thought to add to your travel list!

Prior to any trip, there are certain requirements I set for myself when considering places to lay my head at night. Is the location central enough? Do they have proper installations (looking at you air conditioner)? Is it safe and traveler friendly? Well when it comes to the Loews Vanderbilt it was all check, check and check!

This business-and-play friendly hotel is located a short five minute drive from Centennial Park (Nashville's version of Central Park) and about a 10 minute uber ride from the honky-tonks. Aka the perfect location!

Upon our arrival, we were greeted and checked in by the lovely Marques, who shared that we'd be staying on the Concierge Level where we could enjoy snacks, beverages and complimentary breakfast. Since we were pretty famished from our long haul, we barely got to drop off our bags before we speed-walked to said amenities!

And as if these accommodations weren't already the bomb, we got to experience the 'Ultimate Summer Roadtrip' package during our stay, which included complimentary self parking ($30 per night otherwise), tickets to the Country Music Hall of Fame and a $50 food and beverage voucher that Andres and I cashed in at the hotel's Mason Restaurant- more on that below.

Everyone knows there's nothing I love more than a good ol' road trip and summer is just the time to fire up those playlists, pack light and hit the road! Should we not have flown into Nashville (oh hey JetBlue with those new routes) we would've totally taken up the challenge to check out the NOLA and Atlanta Loews as well. This deal is taking place until Labor Day so make sure you take advantage!

Everything from the food, to the staff, to the locally-inspired decor at the Loews Vanderbilt was simply stellar and I'm forever grateful for the opportunity to experience such an amazing space.

If When you're in Nashville, there's no place like it to stay!

do

The Cheekwood Botanical Gardens
I've been to a fair share of botanical gardens in my short 23 years of life and I must say, this guy takes the cake! (Don't be jealous Brooklyn)

In the midst of the intense southern heat, the Cheekwood botanical garden felt like the perfect oasis. We started by walking through (and aggressively snapping) the different green areas and even made it all the way to the museum- which your entrance covers btw!

There, the sweet staff gave us a quick introduction to the family that previously owned the estate and let us in on some of the history of the place. Pretty fascinating stuff!

Downtown- The Honky-Tonks
If you ever google Nashville, Broadway (aka where the honky-tonks reside) is the first thing you'll see. And while this street felt very much like the Times Square of Nashville, it's still a sight worth seeing. Personally, my favorite part of this area was the John Seigenthaler pedestrian bridge where you can take in the view from a far, allowing you to enjoy it at your own pace.

BarTaco
Being from New York and having tried Mexican food from LA and Texas, I was pretty hesitant to give this spot a chance. But after having my insta-gal and Nashville native, @ameliastyles, recommend it, I knew I had to at least check it out, and boy am I glad I did. Here you'll have the chance to build your own taco selection- using bubble sheets, like high school exams! Totally recommend starting with some guac and torta then trying their mahi mahi, rib eye, portobello, spicy chorizo and chicken tacos. Oh and, as a side, get yourself some grilled corn!

Hot Hattie B's
Nashville is known for their hot chicken and this is most definitely the place to get it from! Recommended by our BarTaco waiter, Christopher, this joint sells hot chicken in just about every form you can think of. Andres and I went for the Hot Chicken Sandwich as it seemed like a nice intro to the HC culture and we did no wrong! The mac'n'cheese I wasn't too crazy about but the coleslaw was a pretty good compliment to our meal. You can certainly expect long lines here and be ready to suffer in the heat while making them.

Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream
With a selection of super original flavors and an insta-worthy location, this ice cream parlor did not disappoint! Best way to beat the heat and up your 'gram feed if you ask me;)

By our second night, Andres and I were pretty exhausted from the heat and walking combination, so we decided to stay in at the Loews and order ourselves some Mason's. He got the Pepper BLT and I the Cobb Salad and both were finger-licking good.

 local recommendations

While we did our best to check out the best of Nashville, we unfortunately didn't get to experience it all. Here are some places we missed but are on our list for the next trip:

Pinewood Social
Centennial Park
Exit In
The Blue Bird
Burger Up
Frothy Monkey
The Pharmacy
Las Paletas
Barista Parlor
Crema
Edley's

That's all for now loves. As always, tweet/email/dm me any questions you might have if you ever find yourself in this unique city!

xx,
Chels.
