STYLE SPOTTING: FESTIVAL TRENDS

Festival season is finally upon us and I couldn't be happier about it! That blissful time of live music, careless dancing and bomb-ass food trucks is what I look forward to from September to this day.

With the first weekend of Coachella coming up, I wanted to share some trends I've picked up on while both attending these festivals and browsing for inspo prior to. Some of these have been around for ages, but putting your own twist to them and accessorizing to your taste is what will bring them back to the present and make you stand out from the freakishly large crowds. Like seriously, it's a bit much sometimes...

1. Aztec Print meets Glam Punk

Ok, I know what you're thinking. Really, you want me to wear a faux-suede jacket right smack in the middle of summer?

Fear not my lovelies, my intention is not for you to melt mid-festival. I always recommend bringing a jacket because trust me, when you're at an all day thing you have to prepare for pretty much anything and everything nature can throw your way. Especially if you'll be in the middle of the dessert (oh hey Coachella) or in an island (looking at you Govball) till late at night. And we all know the headliners we paid the big bucks for don't start to show face till late hours of the night anway.

Throw this biker-bad-boy over your shoulder to beat the morning chills, wrap it around your waist when the 12 sun is beaming and wear it full on when it seems like winter's back at night.

As far as the aztec print, I mean the skirt speaks for itself. I kept the rest of this (suggested) look simple with some classic aviators and high tops, so the key pieces could do all the talking.

KICKS: Vans
JACKET: Thrifted (similar here)
CROSSBODY: Rebecca Minkoff
SKIRT: H&M (party time here)
SUNNIES: Ray-Ban
CARDHOLDER: J.Crew (similar here)

2. Off the Shoulder x Fringe

Off the shoulder tops were huge last summer and they're definitely not going away any time soon. This eyelet top has a medium-strength elastic that makes it super easy for me to hang it on or off my shoulders, depending on my mood.

Again, with the fringe skirt being such a statement, I avoided the outfit looking too busy with these flat brown sandals and my nude-toned sunnies. To give the look a punch of color I added one of my favorite embroiled clutches that screams "I'm at a festival!". Also, notice how the undertone of the clutch is black which makes it easier on the eye when paired with the black skirt, even with the different textures- the devil's in the details ladies!

SANDALS: Fifth City (similar here)
CLUTCH/TOP: T.J Maxx (loving this one)
SKIRT: Forever21 (similar here)
SUNNIES: H&M (cool ones here)

 3. Cut-off Shorts Love a Good Lace-Up

This the ultimate, classic western 'fit that reigns at festivals. Just remember, when pulling off such a defined look, minimalism is your best friend. I've unfortunately witnessed too many cases of "True Life: I'm an Actual Cowboy" at festivals because lines were simply not drawn. Pick a color scheme and stick to it; this will ultimately make you look effortlessly put together. Brown was the main character in this outfit, with pops of blue coming in a close second. I introduced some bling with my Baublebar earrings and threw in a hat for good measure- and hair keeping should it start pouring like at last year's Govball.

TOP: SheIn
SHORTS/SUNNIES: H&M
BOOTIES: Zara (cute ones here)
EARRINGS: BaubleBar (stay tuned for a giveaway)

I hope you drew some inspo for your #festivalOOTDs this year! If you have a signature summer concert look, let me know in the comments below, I'd love to know. Oh and please stay safe out there!

xx,
Chels.
